ELWIN JOSEPH
Elwin Joseph is a native of the Commonwealth of Dominica and moved to St. Croix US Virgin Islands at an early age to be with his mom. As a child, he always had an interest in art which became his passion. This passion for art would allow him to draw with whatever he could find, whether it was with a pen, pencil, or marker. In high school (St. Croix Central High School), he studied Basic Art with Teacher/Artist Gail Widmer. After high school, he continued his pencil drawings which have this distinct “Escher Style Quality”. His mom was and is still one of his greatest influences in his art career and always persuades him to continue. In 2006, he met local artist/ gallery owner Betsy Campen, whom after viewing his drawings invited him to show at her annual art exhibition. The exhibition opened many doors for Elwin, where everyone got to see that artistic talent he possessed. Elwin is presently an Associate member of the National Watercolor Society (NWS) and a member of IWS USA.
ARTIST PORTFOLIO
With the exposure and success from his first exhibit, Elwin as a self-taught artist started showing interest in other mediums like Watercolor, Acrylic, Charcoal and Pastel. As Elwin’s continual growth and love for art pushes him to excel, this has allowed him many opportunities to participate in various shows on St. Croix.
