ABOUT OUR STUDENT PROGRAM
Nurturing the Next Generation of Creatives
Cane Roots Art Gallery provides an interactive art and culture experience where students are immersed in the history of art, culture, and heritage in our region and community. Through the use of interactive activities they learn to appreciate art from around the Caribbean, Latin America, Central America, and North America.
Through the program, students learn to be comfortable walking into an art gallery and engaging with an art exhibit. Questions are posed to students which help them engage in an intentional session of "looking" with a narrow and studied lens. Through these sessions, students are asked to critically think and assess how the artist expresses themselves through his or her creations. After the session, students can confidently walk into an art gallery, examine works, discuss their opinions and taste with others in their group and engage in a dialogue about how things were done.

Our interactive visits are perfect for schools and students! This is a unique educational experience that introduces students to the art gallery experience and gives them an opportunity to learn about important figures in the arts. It provides teachers with an opportunity to expose their students to topics rarely touched on in the classroom such as art history, culture, and identity.
